Macclesfield Canal leaflet

This tourist and boating leaflet, which includes a very detailed strip map of the canal, is available from our leaflet boxes at Marple and Bosley sanitary stations and at Hall Green stop lock. Also UK residents can send a stamped, self addressed envelope, minimum size 8.5"x4" (215mm x 100mm) to the society - address below. Overseas residents should see instructions below on how to obtain a copy.

Canals Guide

The society has published a 48 page A5 booklet, The Macclesfield & Upper Peak Forest Canals Guide.

Most recent edition published May 2002. Now out of print. Try watching for a copy on eBay.

The guide contains a description of the canals' route with some history, pictures and other interesting information together with details of facilities, shops, pubs, etc. of value to boaters (but beware that some information is now out of date). It also contains general maps giving locational information more suitable to road users.

This edition includes the Upper Peak Forest Canal, with its own map. This inclusion reflects the big increase in traffic up the Macc since the restoration of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and the Bugsworth Basins.

The guide is supported by advertising to enable the low price. Profits go The Macclesfield Canal Society. The first edition was favourably reviewed in Waterways World, June 1998 p.62.

Shirts

A wide range of sizes and colours of Sweatshirts and T-shirts is now in stock, or can be obtained quickly.

All of these Polo shirts, Sweatshirts and T-shirts come with the seal of the Macclesfield Canal Company printed on the front (pattern similar to that shown on the left); printed in black on the light coloured cloths, white on the dark colours. The seals are available either large centrally positioned or small breast pocket positioned.

Baseball caps
